Year 2 have been studying life cycles in Science and have been observing caterpillars over the last few weeks. The children watched with excitement as the caterpillars got bigger and bigger before turning into pupa and hanging from the top of the container. We had to wait about 2 weeks before we saw any more changes but one day as we watched a beautiful butterfly emerged from it’s chrysalis and the children were amazed. We eventually had 4 butterflies and we fed them some apple, orange and a flower too. We felt sad when we had to let them go as we had enjoyed having them in class but we knew that it was the right thing to do.
