Our final event of the week was the borough girls cricket tournament, at Enfield Cricket Club. We took 9 girls to compete in the tournament. It was a scorching morning but the girls never let this effect their play. We played 4 games convincingly winning 4 of them some by more than 70 runs. The team coordinated fantastically well, supporting and encouraging each other. Some great bowling was evident after a last minute bowling clinic in their Games lesson with Mr Edgar on Wednesday. The girls were confident in the field attacking the ball and working in unity to back each other up. Their batting was excellent with 6’s and 4’s being scored each game by all. We had a tough game against Peel Park who were a much bigger and stronger team but won all of the rest. The girls were pleased with their performance and achieving silver medals. So much so after our picnic lunch wanted to continue playing against each other! The determination, team work and enthusiasm of these girls is unmeasurable and exactly what Sport is about at Oakhill. Well done, girls! You make us very proud both on and off the field! Having only being beaten by Peel Park from Hyndburn meant that our Oakhill girls were the Ribble Valley champions so we qualified for the regional finals at Northern Cricket club. Unfortunately this is in our Summer Holidays but no less a great achievement!
