During Term 1 KS3 students studied Graphics which included different types of typography, and the principles around them.
Such as, serif, san serif, calligrams and producing letters on isometric paper. Students then studied the artist Charles Demuth and designed their own work based on their interests and typography.
This was then developed into a Turkish map fold and made into a little pop-up book. The students really enjoyed the challenge, and they were inspired by their own artwork celebrating their interests.
Next term in CDT we are looking 3D art and texture. Students will develop their practical skills resulting in the development of a diorama style art box including found objects and made sculptures inspired by Joseph Cornell and surrealism. Watch this space!
