The fabulous staff at QSM in Briercliffe took Year 8 round the steam engines and weaving sheds of the mill which only closed in 1982. Brandon and his colleagues answered questions and explained in detail the process to take cotton from plant to woven cloth, demonstrating several machines on the way. The pupils were interested and listened well, and the visit opened their eyes to developments in engineering over 100 years. Afterwards, Year 8 went to HAPPA where they donated the money they had raised at school in their sports afternoon and cake sale. They gave £163 and then enjoyed meeting some of the horses and ponies cared for so beautifully at the centre. Our thanks to the staff of both Queen Street Mill and HAPPA and well done Year 8 pupils
