Years 10 and 11 GCSE History classes enjoyed a well deserved trip to Hardwick Hall to look at the home of Bess, the second richest woman in Elizabethan England. Students toured Bess’ showpiece home with its famous windows-it is known as having “more glass than wall”. The guides in each room explained the features which were modern for their time and reflective of Bess’ personal story and the Elizabethan context. Students were fabulous throughout the day, completing a quiz and enjoying the sunshine in Derbyshire. Our thanks to the National Trust guides who made us so welcome.
