Laughter, quick-fire dialogue and plenty of audience participation filled the room as Shipwrecked en France arrived at Oakhill, performed by Onatti Productions.
Delivered largely in French, the play immediately drew pupils into the action, with many eager to join in and become part of the performance.
What made the afternoon even more special was the presence of visiting pupils from local schools, who joined Oakhill children for a shared experience of language brought to life.
The performance struck exactly the right balance — entertaining and accessible while gently stretching pupils’ listening skills and confidence in French.
It is one thing to learn a language in the classroom and quite another to hear it performed, spoken at pace and used for humour and storytelling. Experiences like this remain with pupils long after the event, building both understanding and enthusiasm.
The afternoon also reflected Oakhill’s commitment to opening its doors and creating opportunities beyond its own classrooms, bringing schools together and enriching learning through shared experiences.
