Year 7 pupils have been discovering the exciting world of wind instruments in music this term.
During the sessions, they explored the differences between orchestral and jazz wind instruments, learned about how different reeds are used and had the chance to try instruments such as the flute and alto saxophone. Violet and Elias were particular standouts on the saxophone and may well have discovered hidden musical talents.
Learning to play a musical instrument has many benefits beyond simply making beautiful sounds. Pupils develop concentration, coordination and perseverance, while also boosting confidence and creativity.
Playing together in class encourages teamwork and listening skills and gives pupils a sense of achievement as they master new techniques and pieces.
