Year 10 pupils recently took part in the Maths Feast competition hosted by Burnley College, a fast-paced team event designed to stretch mathematical thinking through a series of challenging problem-solving rounds.
The competition, open to teams of Year 10 and Year 11 pupils from schools across the region, focuses on collaboration, logic and creative approaches to unfamiliar problems rather than routine calculations.
Oakhill’s team of four girls represented the school brilliantly, working through a wide variety of tasks that tested both their reasoning skills and their ability to work effectively under pressure.
Facing competition from other local schools, they approached each challenge with enthusiasm, determination and resilience, showing a willingness to tackle even the most difficult questions together.
They should be extremely proud of their efforts. The event provided an excellent opportunity to experience mathematics in action, develop teamwork skills and build confidence in tackling complex problems.
It was a fantastic afternoon and a valuable experience that will undoubtedly benefit them in the future.
