Oakhill recently celebrated the first Trailblazers of the school year. Emilia, Darcey and Aadrita from Year 4, along with Henry in Reception, all successfully completed independent Trailblazer projects, earning a place on the Oakhill Trailblazer Wall of Fame.
Each pupil also received a certificate and a special Trailblazer owl badge in recognition of their achievements.
The projects were as varied as they were creative, ranging from maths mastery puzzles and games to imaginative writing and philosophical thinking challenges.
Completing a Trailblazer project requires commitment, resilience and a willingness to see a task through from start to finish, and the quality of work produced by these pupils impressed everyone involved.
Some projects have also made a meaningful impact beyond the classroom. Fatima and Darcey, for example, raised £275 for the charity Headway as part of their Trailblazer challenge. Headway supports people affected by brain injury and works to raise awareness of its often devastating effects.
Representatives from the charity visited the school to receive the cheque and speak to pupils about their work, sharing an important message about safety, including why wearing helmets when cycling matters.
Oakhill has also launched the Spring Trailblazer Challenge, encouraging pupils to take on an enterprise project or a public speaking challenge.
The school looks forward to celebrating more Trailblazers as pupils continue to explore their interests, challenge themselves and make a difference both within and beyond the school community.
